Entry to my dairy, January 21st...

“It is Saturday, January 21. Rick and I are sitting outside in the sun. The thermometer almost reaches 80 degrees. This evening, the sunset on the marsh will be unbelievable.

We just came back from a drive on I-95 and there is no doubt, “the maple trees are budding with fresh spring leaves.” The first of the daffodils I planted popped up its stem and we are expecting the yellow beauty to bloom before mid February. The rest will follow ASAP.

!!!!! Spring is in the air !!!!!
I love winter …… for a really SHORT SHORT SHORT SHORT period.

To be exact, I like winter just from Halloween (when we put the scary stuff out!) till Christmas (when we decorate the house with all the heirlooms we inherited and when we eat all the foods we are not supposed to).

!!!!! But after that, I am ready from spring!!!!!
And spring comes here just when the holiday season is over and it is here to stay till the holiday season starts again.”

Our years in the fast lane...
Rick and I lived in Charlotte, NC, for as long as we can remember. It is a nice place. Go visit! In April and you will see the most beautiful scenery of blooming azaleas and dogwoods you can imagine.

There are some drawbacks though. (Traffic, cost of living, crime, ice storms and getting my car stuck into the snow), but let’s not talk about that. It was a good life!

Our Journey to the Golden Isles...

We never thought this would happen so soon, but we reached retirement age before we knew it????????

So we put our minds together as to where we wanted to live and what we wanted to enjoy. These where the criteria:

- Within a reasonable distance to the beach (reasonable means at the most 20 minutes)

- In an area where winter only lasts from Halloween till Christmas.

- No ice storms or cars getting stuck in the snow. (If it snows once in a blue moon every 15 years, we stay inside that day and talk to the grandkids about it for the next decennia’s to come)

- Low risk for hurricanes!!!!!!

- No more standing before the same red light for 7 times. (That means no traffic jams)

- The opportunity to go out for dinner “Grand Style” and get the same quality food with “No shoes, No shirt required”

- My hubby really wanted a place to go hunting, fishing and boating. (Don’t try to remember the names of all the rivers down here. Too many to explore.)

- I wanted a place to go shopping. (For NICE stuff)

And last but not least:

- A place where the money we worked for all our life would be worth more.

After searching the US coast from the Pamlico Sound (NC) all the way around Florida through Alabama and Texas, we decided on Brunswick, GA. (We had a lot of fun “doing” all these beaches).

We are living here now for more then a year and WE LOVE IT! Call us. (Sally has our number) and we will tell you all about this area.

Come join us here!
